The Founding of the Colony

  • CALVERT MEDAL FOR THE 350TH ANNIVERSARY OF MARYLAND
    The Calvert medal is the official medal of the United States Capitol Historical Society for the 350th anniversary of Maryland. On its obverse, the sterling medal features the First and Second Lords of Baltimore. The reverse depicts the journey of the Ark and Dove, the ships which carried the colonist to the new province.

    The earliest verified and authenticated copy of the original Charter of Maryland.
    The original document was on loan to the State of Maryland from the Library of the House of Lords in honor of the 350th anniversary of Maryland and the occasion of the visit of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Kent to the State House, June 21, 1984.
