HARRY W. NICE, GOVERNOR. 1315

Chapter 435, House Bill 650, authorizes the Maryland
National Capital Park & Planning Commission to name
streets and number houses within the Maryland—Washing-
ton Metropolitan District and provides for the payment of
the cost thereof.

Chapter 452, House Bill 690, provides for the classifica-
tion of the employees of the Montgomery County Health
Department and places them under the provisions of the
State Merit System.

Chapter 521, Senate Bill 451, amends the law relating
to the salary of the Police Justice of the County.

Chapter 536, Senate Bill 485, amends the section relating
to work within the right-of-way of the Washington & Rock-
ville Railway Company but fails to eliminate the words
which would make the Act accomplish the purpose desired.

Chapter 600, Senate Bill 427, amends the law relating
to publishing the list of delinquent taxpayers.

Some of the changes proposed by the above bills are un-
necessary, some are undesirable, some fail to accomplish
the purpose desired and in others there were numerous pro-
tests and for these reasons, I have vetoed all of the above
mentioned bills.

MOTOR VEHICLES.

Chapter 849, House Bill 484, authorizes an increase in
the gross weight of certain motor trucks operating on the
state highways.

Chapter 354, House Bill 410, provides that there shall be
no suspension or revocation of operator's license until final
determination of criminal proceedings has been made.

Chapter 378, House Bill 265, authorizes an employee to
transport fellow employees for hire in Allegany County.

Chapter 568, Senate Bill 11, provides for the registration
of motor vehicles by certain local officials in the several
Counties.

Chapter 378 would change the general law and policy as
to the licensing of vehicles for transportation for hire and
I have, therefore, vetoed it.

On the recommendation of the Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles that Chapters 349, 354 and 568 should not be ap-
proved, I have vetoed these bills.

OYSTERS.

Chapter 440, House Bill 660, directs the Conservation
Commissioner to drag certain oyster bottoms with bagless
dredges.
