David Browne, 2000 lbs/tbco Christopher Reynolds, 218 lbs/tbco. (See Transcription; see also f.11) 9 ~ William Bowen (Boyne), planter, Pltf. vs. Elizabeth Lynch, Admnx of Henry Lynch of Pocomoke, for debt of 882 lbs/tbco; Robert Pirrie, attorney for Bowen, presents bill signed 15 April 1689 by Lynch, promising payment by following 10 October; witnesses Thomas Poynter, Peter Bodkin; Peter Dent, attorney for Lynch, admits debt; Court orders payment, with costs. 10 ~ Case against Elinor Foscue for bastardy; identifies Lancelott Sawkill as the father; Court orders she give security; Daniel Dennahoe, Jun., acknowledges debt of 400 lbs/tbco for Foscue; Court orders Sawkill appear next court. 10 ~ Court adjourns briefly; reconvenes with Commissioners Francis Jenckins, Thomas Dixon, Matthew Scarbrough, George Layfield, John Bozman, Samuel Hopkins, James Round, Edmund Howard, John King, Stepen Horsey, Arnold Elzey. 10 ~ Case against John Broughton for being drunk and swearing in Court; ordered to post security for clearing a road; required to clear a road and bridges sufficient for horse and cart, from present Courthouse to William Nobles house, and also the lower way by Edward Stevens, by the river, within 21 days; makes bond for £5, security John Webb. (See Transcription) 11 ~ John Henderson and Ambrose Riggen released from bond for good behavior; ordered to pay fees. 11 ~ Rowland Beavins ordered to repair road and causeway over marsh at Nanswango (Nansionngo) Creek. 11 ~ Gorge Bozman to replace Col. David Browne as overseer for Browne’s district (not specified). 11 ~ Court adjourns for the day. |
