    Upon the motion of Coll George Dashiell on behalfe of his Negro woman above named Nell to be tax free she being Antient
and past her Labour &c  Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the af.d ^negro^ Nell be tax free for the future according to the
motion af.d of the af.d George Dashiell &c


    Upon the motion of Coll George Dashiell on behalfe of his Negro woman a slave named Nan to be tax free she being Antient
and past her Labour &.c  Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the af.d Negro Nan be tax free for the future according
to the motion af.d of the af.d George Dashiell &.c

                                    To the Worshipfull Justices of Somerset County in Court Sitting the humble
Sheweth that a horse bridge on the main head of Wiccocomoco River at Salsbury town where John
Caldwell now keeps a private ferrey for his own use would be of great Service to all the Inhabitants of Both sides of the
upper part of the said River as also for Severall others it being nearer by Six miles then to go round by the Cyprus bridge
therefore your petitioners prays your worships to taken the ^same^ into your Consideration and grant their petition by ordering
a bridge to be built at the Countys Charge and your petitioners as in duty bound shall Ever pray &c
    John Caldwell and Sundry Others

                               The petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood   Thereupon the said
John Caldwell present herein Court in his proper person the Justices of the same Court in Court Judicially
sitting agrees with the said Caldwell for the building of a good substantiall horse Bridge at the place abovesaid
in form following the said Bridge to be Twelve feet wide and well Braced and laid with Planck Two Inches
and a hafe thick after sawed and to make Causways at Each End of Said Bridge and that the Causway at the
westermost End of said bridge be made good and passable for horse and Cart to the main high Land which
bridge and Causways ^is to^ be build ^and Compleat^ by the said Caldwell according to the further directions of Capt Thomas Gilliss
(than is already agreed on by the Court as abovesaid) and at the proper Costs and Charges of the said Caldwell
and that he give good Security for the keeping of the said bridge and Causways in good repair at his Own
Expence for fifteen Years to Commence from the Compleating and finishing of the bridge and Causways afd

             In Consideration of which said Services to be Compleat perform'd and finished as aforesaid the said
Caldwell is to be allowed sixty five pounds Curr.t money of Maryland to be raised the next Levy Court (provided the
said Bridge and Causways be finished before that same Levy Court) or as much tobacco as will fetch that
said Sum of Money afd  And further it is agreed that Thomas Covington Lewis Disharoon John Disharoon Junr
and Jonathan Shockley the four Overseers of the Roads Adjacent to said Bridge and Causways give One days work
Each of all their Labourers and Male Taxables that doth work and Labour on their Severall Respective Roads under
them the afd Overseers to the afd Caldwell towards making of the Causways at Each End of the Bridge afd whensoever
Required by the afd Caldwell &a


Jonathan Shockley appointed Overseer of the Roads in Wickacomoco hundred for the Ensueing year in stead of Moses
Driskill &c
