Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

Chestnutt complexion was born and raised in Caroline
County and has a Scar on the right knee and has no
other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                      In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe
                      my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit
(Seal)             Court for Caroline County this fifteenth day
                      of February Anno Domini Eighteen hundred
                      and fifty nine
                                                           Robert J Jump Clk
                            of the CIrcuit Court for Caroline County


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:    whereas Eva
Cooper hath made application to me for a Certificate of her
freedom agreeably to law and whereas on the Oath of
Samuel Cooper has been proven that Said Eva Cooper
was free born I do therefore grant this certificate  She is now
about fifty nine years of age five feet four inches high brown
or thereabout brown and or thereabout of a Chestnutt Complexion
was born and raised in Caroline County and has
a large scar on the left foot caused by a scauld and
has no other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                            In Testimony whereof I hereunto set
                            my b name and affix the seal of the
(Seal)                   Circuit Court for Caroline County this
                            18th day of February A D Eighteen hundred
                            and fifty nine

                                        Cir Ct for Caroline County
