my name and affix the seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline
County this Twenty ninth day of January Anno Domini Eighteen
hundred & fifty nine
                                                                   Robert J. Jump Clk


Caroline County to wit:    Whereas Richard Anderson
Cooper hath made application to me for a certificate of his
freedom agreeably to law:  and whereas on the Oath of Spencer
Hitch has been proven that said Richard Anderson Cooper
was free born.   I do therefore grant this certificate he is now
about twenty three years of age five feet and Six inches high
or thereabout of a chestnutt complexion was born & raised
in Caroline County and has a large Scar on the left ankle
and has on other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                            In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe
                            my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit
(Seal)                   Court for Caroline County this fifteenth
                            day of February Anno Domini Eighteen hundred
                            and fifty nine
                                                 Robert J Jump Clk
                         of the Cir Court for Caroline County


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:
                               Whereas Henry Saulsbury hath made application
to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to law:  and
whereas on the Oath of Spencer Hitch has been proven that
Said Henry Saulsbury was free born   I do therefore grant
this certificate.  He is now about twenty four years of age
five feet and nine inches high or thereabout of a
