Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas William Allen
Loockerman hath made application to me for a certificate of his
freedom agreeably to law.   and whereas on the affirmation of
Samuel Dunning has been proven that said William Allen
Loockerman was free born   I do therefore grant this certificate he
is now about twenty eight years of age five feet seven & one half
inches high or there about of a dark chesnutt complexion was born &
raised in Caroline County and has a large scar under the right ear
caused by a kings evil & one other scar on the left rist & also a mark
on the right side of the face and close to the nose caused by a burn
and has no other notable mark or scar that I have observed
                            In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my
    (seal)                name and affixed the seal of the Circuit Court for
                            Caroline County this Eleventh day of January Anno
                            Domini Eighteen hundred & fifty nine

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:   Whereas George
Washington Cook hath made application to me for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to law      And whereas on the affirmation
of Martin W Maloney has been proven that said George Washington Cook
was free born      I do therefore grant this Certificate he is now about
thirty six years of age five feet five & three quarter inches high or there
about of a black complexion was born & raised in Caroline
County and has a scar on the centre of the forehead and and
also one other scar on the right rist and has no other notable
mark or scar that I have observed
