Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Henry Comegys hath
made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to law
and whereas on the Oath of William Cahall hath been proven that said
Henry Comegys was free born I do therefore grant this Certificate
he is now about forty three years of age five feet four and one half
inches high or thereabouts of a dark Chesnut Complexion has a scar
on his left wrist and another scar on the top part of his nose between
the eyes and has no other notable marks or scars that I have
observed he was born and raised in Caroline County
    (Sea)   In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and
affix the seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 28th day of August
Anno Domini 1863

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Daniel
Christopher Green hath made application to me for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to law and whereas on the oath
of Joseph Anthoney hath been proven that the said Daniel
Christopher Green was free born I do therefore grant this
certificate he is now about twenty one years of age five feet
eleven and three quarters inches high of a dark Chesnut Complexion
has a scar over his right eye and also one on the side left side
of his nose has no other notable marks or Scars that I have
observed      was born and raised in Caroline County        
             In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name
(Seal)    and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 12th
day of October A D 1863
