State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas
William Henry James hath made application to me for a certificate
of his freedom agreeably to law:  and whereas on the oath of Nathaniel
Perry hath been proven that said William Henry James was free
born.  I do therefore grant this Certificate.  He is now about twenty
two years of age five feet ten and one half inches high or thereabouts
of a Chesnut Complexion and has no ^notable^ other scars or marks that I
have observed
(Seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and affix
the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this twenty
fourth day of March Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred and sixty two

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Benjamin
Muse hath made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom
agreeably to law:  and whereas on the oath of Nathaniel Perry hath been
proven that said Benjamin Muse was free born.  I do therefore grant
this Certificate.  He is now about twenty Six Years of age five feet five
and one half inches high or thereabout of black Complexion and has
a large scar on the side of his neck Caused a burn has nother marks &c
(Seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name affix the Seal
of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this twenty fourth day of
March Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred and Sixty two
