Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:   Whereas Lydia
Ann Garnier hath made application to me for a Certificate
of her freedom agreeably to law:  and whereas on the oath of
W.m T. Willis hath been proven that said Lydia Ann Garner
was free born I do therefore grant this Certificate  She is now
about twenty two Years of age five feet & one inch high or thereabouts
of a mulatto Complexion was born and raised in Caroline
County and has a small scar under her under lip & has no other
marks or scars that I have observed
(Seal)   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix the
Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this 25th day
of October A. D. 1861

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas
Lydia Ann Loockerman hath made application to me for
a Certificate of her freedom agreeably to law:  and whereas on
the oath of D.r P. Ovide Cherbornier hath been proven that
said Lydia Ann Loockerman was free born I do therefore
grant this Certificate She is now about Eighteen years
of age five feet Six and one quarter inches high or thereabouts
of a Mulatto Complexion was born and raised in Caroline
County & has no notable marks or Scars that I have
observed.   In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe
my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for
Caroline County this 7th day of December A D 1861
