Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

                            State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:
Whereas Jane Buley hath made application to me for a certificate
of her freedom agreeably to law:  And whereas on the oath of William
Loockerman has been proven that said Jane Buley was free born
I do therefore grant this certificate she is now about nineteen years
of age five feet & two inches high or thereabout of a Chesnutt
complexion was born & raised in Caroline County and has
one scar on the left arm caused by a burn & has nother notable
mark or scar that I have observed
                   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my
(seal)           name and affix the seal of the Circuit Court for
                   Caroline County June 3rd A. D. 1858
                                                Robert J. Jump Clk


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit   Whereas Louisa Webb hath
made application to me for a certificate of her freedom agreeably to Law: and
whereas on the Oath of Charles Edgell has been proven that Louise Webb
was free born         I do therefore grant this Certificate She is now about
twenty three year of age five feet five inches high or thereabout of a black
Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and has no mark or
scar that I have Observed
(Seal)      In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and
               affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline County this
               this tenth day of June Anno Domini 1858
