Caroline County Circuit Court, Certificates of Freedom, 1857-1864

State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas application hath
been made to me by Senah Pratt for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to
law:  and whereas on the Oath of William Connolly hath been proven that said
Senah Pratt was free born.  I do thereof grant this Certificate:  He is now about
twenty Eight years of age five feet four inches high or thereabouts of a Black Complexion
was born and raised in this County has a scar on the first finger of his left
hand & one on his forehead & has no other marks or scars that I have observed
In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit
(Seal) Court for Caroline County this nineteenth day of July Anno Domini Eighteen
Hundred and Sixty
                                                                            Robert J. Jump Clerk of the
                                                                      Circuit Court for Caroline County


State of Maryland Caroline County to wit:  Whereas Perry Anderson hath
made application to me for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to law:  And
Whereas on the oath of Ann C. Newman hath been proven that said Perry
Anderson was free born.  I do therefore grant this Certificate.  He is now
about twenty two years of age five feet and eight inches high or thereabouts
of a Mulatto Complexion was born and raised in Caroline County and
has a scar on the back of his right hand and has no other mark or scar
that I have observed                  In Testimony Whereof I hereunto Subscribe
(seal)   my name and affix the Seal of the Circuit Court for Caroline
     County this 25th day of July Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred
and Sixty
