Margaret Duvall
          to
Horatio Ridout of H
  Mortgage
 This Indenture made this eighth
day of August eighteen hundred
and fifty one by and between
Margaret Duvall of Anne Arundel
County in the State of Maryland of the one part and
Horatio Ridout of H of the same County and State of
the other part.  Whereas the said Horatio Ridout has this
day loaned and advanced to the said Margaret Duvall
the sum of four hundred dollars current money and in order
to secure the payment thereof with interest the said
Margaret Duvall has agreed to execute these presents
    Now therefore this Indenture Witnesseth that the
said Margaret Duvall for and in consideration of the
above recited premises and of the sum of five dollars
current money to me in hand paid at and before the
sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which
is hereby acknowledged the said Margaret Duvall
has granted bargained and sold and by these presents
do grant bargain and sell unto the said Horatio Ridout
of H his executors administrators and assigns the following
goods and chattels hereinafter described to wit a negro
boy by the name of Ned otherwise called Ned Green.  To
Have and To Hold the said negro so described as aforesaid
to the said Horatio Ridout of H his executors administrators
and assigns forever.  Provided always and it is the true
intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties
hereunto that if the said Margaret Duvall her
heirs executors or administrators do and shall well and
truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Horatio Ridout
of H his executors or administrators the said full sum
of four hundred dollars current money with legal
interest for the same on or before the first day of January
in the year eighteen hundred and fifty five without
any deduction or abatement whatsoever then and from
thenceforth these presents and every matter and
thing therein contained shall cease determine and be
utterly null and void any thing therein to the contrary
