day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty one between me the said Stephen
Beard Senr of the one part and my wife Betty H. Beard
of the other part to wit negro woman Eliza aged about thirty
years negro girl Matilda aged about thirteen years
negro girl Mary aged about six years and negro boy
Thomas aged about two years for and during their
respective terms of periods of servitude therein
mentioned that is from the date hereof until
they shall have respectively attained the age
of thirty years and also all my right and interest
in and to the issue to be born of said female negro during
the terms or periods of servitude for & during
their terms or periods of servitude to have and to hold
upon the trust and for the purposes declared and
fully set forth in the agreement aforesaid all my
right and interest in and to the said negro for and
during their aforesaid terms or periods of servitude
and hereby bargained and sold to the said Nicholas
Brewer jr his executors administrators and assigns
together with all & every the issue which the said
several female negroes may have during their aforesaid
terms or periods of servitude for & during the terms or periods
of servitude of such issue.  In Witness whereof we the
said Stephen Beard Senr and the said Nicholas Brewer
jr have hereunto subscribed our names and affixed
our seals this first day of August in the year one
thousand eight hundred and fifty one

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

Be it remembered that on this first day of August
in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty one
before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State
of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County personally
appeared Stephen Beard senr the party grantor &
Nicholas Brewer jr the party grantee in the annexed
instrument of writing and acknowledge the
same to be their act and deed
