proper use and behoof of him the said Passmore Mcculloh his
executors administrators and assigns and to and for no other use intent
or purpose whatsoever.  Provided always and these presents are upon
this condition that if the said John Roads his executors administrators
shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto
the said Passmore Mcculloh his Executors administrators or assigns
the full sum of two hundred and twenty 50/100 dollars on or before
22.nd day of December in the year eighteen hundred & forty five
then and in such case these presents and every matter and
thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void
to all intents and purposes anything herein contained to the
contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding.  And the said
John Roads for himself his executors and administrators all
and singular the said goods and property by these presents
granted and sold and every part and parcel thereof unto the said
Passmore Mcculloh his Executors Administrators and assigns
against him the said John Roads his Executors and administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall
and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.

          In witness whereof the said John Roads hath hereto set
his hand and affixed his seals the day & year first herein before
written                                                          his

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

          On this second day of August in the year eighteen hundred &
forty five before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the
State of Maryland for Anne Arundel County personally appeared
John Roads party grantee in the aforesaid deed or instrument of
writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and the
property therein mentioned & thereby bargained and sold to be
the right and estate of the within named Passmore Mcculloh
party grantee also therein named according to the purport true
intent & meaning thereof & I further certify that from information
I believe the said John Roads to be the identical person mentioned
in the aforegoing instrument of writing as party grantee
          Acknowledged before and certified by
                                                                W.m Glover
Recorded the 4.th day of August 1845
