At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

    On this twenty fifth day of July in the year eighteen hundred and
forty five before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the said
State in and for said County came William H. Turton and Edwin W. Duvall
agent as aforesaid and acknowledged the within bill of sale to be their
act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof

Bill of sale from John Roads to Passmore
Mcculloh of a crop of tobacco and other
articles dated the second day of August
eighteen hundred and forty five
This Indenture made
this second day of August
one thousand eight hundred
and forty five between John
Roards of Anne Arundel County
Maryland of the one part and Passmore Mcculloh of the same
place of the other part witnesseth That the said John Roads
owes and stands justly indebted to the said Passmore Mcculloh in the
sum of two hundred and twenty dollars and fifty cents current
money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute
these presents.  Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said
John Roads for and in consideration of the premises and for and in
consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to him in
hand paid by the said Passmore Mcculloh at or before the sealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged by these presents hath granted bargained and
sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the
said Passmore Mcculloh his Executors administrators and assigns
all and singular the goods and chattels hereinafter named to wit
all my interest in the Crop of tobacco made last year at the farm on
which I reside called the halfway house and all my interest in
the crop now growing on said farm consisting of tobacco corn oats
potatoes and cabbage also all the right title and interest of the
said John Roads in and to one bureau six chairs one bed bedding
and Bedstead a Lot of Harness one Horse one cow six hogs one plough
and one Harrow one Horse cart forty cords of pine wood six cords of
Hickory wood and eight cords of oak woods the pine wood now
cut on the before mentioned farm and the oak & Hickory also now
cut in the farm of George Wilson.  To Have and To Hold all and
singular the said goods & property herein before granted bargained
or sold or mentioned or intended so to be unto the said Passmore
Mcculloh his Executors Administrators and assigns to the only
