Hall for himself his executors and administrators the above described negroes by these presents granted bargained and sold unto the said Ephraim W. Hall his executors administrators and assigns against him the said Ben. H. Hall his executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and warrant and defend forever by these presents In Witness whereof the said Ben H Hall hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this seventeenth day of October eighteen hundred and forty nine Signed sealed & delivered in presence Ben. H. Hall of F. S. Myer Sam.l Grubb District of Columbia Washington County to wit Be it remembered that on this seventeenth day of October eighteen hundred and forty nine before the subscribers Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid personally appeared the above named Ben. H. Hall party grantor mentioned in the aforegoing instrument of writing and acknowledge the same to be his act and deed and the personal property therein mentioned to be the right and estate of Ephraim W. Hall party grantee also therein named according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid F. S. Myer J. P. (seal) Sam.l Grubb J. P. (seal) District of Columbia, Washington County to wit On this seventeenth day of October eighteen hundred and forty nine personally appeared before the subscriber Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid Ephraim W. Hall the party grantee mentioned in the foregoing instrument of writing and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned is true and bona fide as therein stated H. F. Myer J. P. United States of America Department of State To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: I certify that F. S. Myer and Samuel Grubb whose names are subscribed to the paper hereunto annexed are now and were at the time of subscribing the same Justices of the Peace for the County of Washington in the District of Columbia duly commissioned and that full faith and confidence are due to their acts as such In Testimony whereof I John M. Clayton Secretary of State of the United States have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the seal of the Department of state to be affixed (Seal's) Done at the City of Washington this seventeenth day of October A.
