Leatherwood of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland of the one part and
Richard G Stockett of the County aforesaid of the other part the said Jesse
Leatherwood for the Consideration therein expressed hath bargained and sold
assigned transferred and delivered possession to the said Stockett the following
negro & mulatto slaves to wit negro woman Harriet aged nineteen years and
Mulatto boy Dennis aged twelve years one gray Poney and one bay mare and
all her the said Anne's household and kitchen furniture and all her Share of
her mothers Estate the aforesaid being the sole property of the said Anne before
her marriage with the said Jesse together with all his the said Jessees right
and title thereto  To have and to hold the said slaves and other personal
property above enumerated together with their increase unto the said Stockett
his Executors administrators and assigns in trust nevertheless that he and
they shall hold the same to and for the sole and seperate use benefit and
enjoyment of Anne Leatherwood the wife of the said Jesse for and during
her natural life without the same being subject to the Controul of the said
Jesse and in further trust that the said Anne shall have full power and
authority to dispose of the same in her life time if she shall think proper
by writing under her hand and seal attested by two witnesses in the nature
of a bill of sale or last will and testament as fully and effectually as if she was
a femme sole and unmarried at the time as pr reference to said Indenture
recorded in Liber W L G No 8 folio 245 one of the land record books of Anne
Arundel County will more fully appear  And whereas the said Anne
Leatherwood is about to dispose of mulatto boy Dennis one of the servants
mentioned in the aforesaid Indenture and wishes me to unite with her
in making title thereto  Now Know all men by these presents that I
Richard G Stockett of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland at the
instance and by request and procurement of the said Anne Leatherwood
testified by her being a party hereto for and in Consideration of the above
recited premises and of the sum of one dollar Current money to me in hand
paid by John Needles of the City of Baltimore in Baltimore County and state
aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivering hereof the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledge and I Anne Leatherwood of the City of Baltimore
in Baltimore County and state aforesaid for and in Consideration of the
above recited premises and the sum of one dollar in hand paid by John
Needles aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt
whereof is hereby Acknowledge Have granted bargained and sold
And by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John
Needles his Executors administrators and assigns mulatto boy Dennis
