345 acknowledge and also for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and Eighty nine dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Lewis Griffith of Calvert County and State aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Robinson do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto him the said Joseph G Harrison and Lewis Griffith their Executors administrators and assigns the following named and described property in my possession Viz one negro Girl named Mary about sixteen years old three feather beds steads & furniture one bureau and six chairs To have and To hold the said above named and described property to the said Harrison and Griffith their Executors administrators and assigns for ever and I the said Thornton F Robinson for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid property to the said Harrison and Griffith their Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Robinson my Executors and administrators and against all and every person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents Provided nevertheless that in case I the said Robinson shall pay or satisfy to the said Harrison and Griffith or to their Executors administrators or assigns the respective sums to them and each of them respectively owing us above stated in Current money with interest for the sums on or before the first day of July Eighteen hundred and forty six then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said named and described property as above is mortgaged by me the said Robinson to secure to the said Harrison and Griffith the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Thornton F Robinson have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eighth day of July Eighteen hundred and forty four Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Th F Robinson (seal) Lewis Sutton Sr Robert J Owens On the back of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: On this Eighth day of July Eighteen hundred and forty four before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County and State appears Thornton F Robinson and acknowledges the foregoing or within writing to be his act and deed according to the true true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided he the said Robinson being personally known to me to be the Identical person meant and intended as the party grantee to the within writing Lewis Sutton Sr Ex d d chd 66 4½ Recorded the 27 day of July 1844 |
