register of the office of Anne Arundel County will more fully appear  To have and
To hold the said boy above bargained and sold to the said James E Williams
his Executors administrators and assigns until he arrives at the age of Thirty five
years to wit until the twenty third of November in the year of our Lord One
thousand Eight hundred and sixty Eight and thereafter to be free  In Witness whereof
the said Joshua Grimes the Executor or Moses Lawrence and the said James E
Williams have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this 7th day of may
in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

    Anne Arundel County to wit   On the 7 day of may in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight hundred and forty four came the within named Joshua
Grimes Executor of Moses Lawrence and James E Williams before me the
subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the State of maryland for Anne
Arundel County aforesaid and severally acknowledged the within instrument
of writing to be their act and deed

    Know all men by these presents that I Thomas B Crandall of Anne Arundel
County and State of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Eighty five
dollars Current money to me in hand paid by W H Wood of the County and
State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have given granted
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
said W H Wood his Executors administrators and assigns the following property
to wit 1 Gray horse 6 years old 2 oxen 1 heifer 2 hogs and household and
kitchen furniture which is now in my possession  To have and To hold the said
described property above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be
to the said W H Wood his Executors administrators and assigns for ever Now I the
said Thomas B Crandell for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said
property unto the said H W Wood his Executors administrators and assigns
against me the said Thomas B Crandell my Executors and administrators and
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents  In Testimony whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of may Eighteen
hundred and forty four                                 Thomas B Crandall   (seal)
