332 the said Negroes as Slaves to serve each of them the said Ballard his Executors administrators and assigns until the twenty third day of April Eighteen hundred and fifty and then to go for as aforesaid And the said Edward C Williams doth hereby Covenant promise and agree to and with the said Ballard that he the said Williams his heirs Executors and administrators will well and truly warrant and defend the aforesaid negroes for the terms aforesaid to him the said Ballard his Executors administrators and assigns against him the said Edward C Williams his Executors administrators and assigns and against every person or persons whatsoever claiming my right title or interest of in or to the same or either of them forever by these presents In Testimony whereof the said Justices have each of them hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first herein written Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of Edward C Williams (seal) Zachariah Duvall Zachariah Merriken H E Ballard (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County Be it remembered That on this Eleventh day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said State in and for the County aforesaid personally appear Edward C Williams and Henry E Ballard parties to the aforegoing deed and acknowledge the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein set forth Zachariah Merriken chd 66 4¾ Recorded the 11 day of May 1844 Know all men by these presents that Joshua Grimes Executor of Moses Lawrence of Anne Arundel County for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Sixty five dollars Current money to him in hand paid by James E Williams of the County aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the said Joshua Grimes doth hereby acknowledge has granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Williams his Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy named John Toogood who was ten years old on the twenty third day of November last a son of a certain negro woman Priss who with her increase was bequeathed by one John Boone of Nich to his daughter Charlotte Boone to serve her until they arrived at the age of thirty five years and thereafter severally to have their freedom as by reference to the last will and testament of John Boone of Nichs dated twenty fifth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and six recorded in Liber J G N.o 2 folio 408 some of the records of the (register) |
