       Know all men by these presents that I Wesley Allwell of Anne Arundel
County for the purpose of securing the payment of the sum of one hundred
and fifty dollars Current money heretofore loaned me by Nicholas Chaney of
said County with Interest thereon as is herein after provided and in consideration
of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars Current money to me in hand
paid by the said Nicholas Chaney at or before the sealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell
unto the said Nicholas Chaney his Executors administrators and assigns
the following personal property now in my possession to with three feather
beds one beauro two walnut tables two pine tables nine chairs three
chests two Trunks two guns three narrow axes one mawl and wedges four
water buckets shovel tongs and Irons two spiders one tea kettle and
two Iron potts three barrels four baskets and Carpet and one Cart saddle
and britching and a lott of tin and Earthen ware and one Canoe and
two tables  To have and To hold the aforesaid personal property unto the
said Nicholas Chaney his Executors administrators and assigns and to
his and their use  Provided nevertheless that if I the said Wesley
Allwell my Executors administrators shall on or before the nineteenth day
of January Eighteen hundred and forty six pay unto the said Nicholas Chaney
his Executors administrators or assigns the aforesaid sum of one hundred
and fifty dollars with Interest hereon the said to be and remain in full
force and virtue and it is hereby to be understood that untill default shall
be made in payment of said sum of money and interest on some part thereof
it shall and may be lawful for me the said Wesley Allwell my Executors
administrators or assigns to retain possession of the aforesaid personal
property hereby bargained and sold and the sum to use occupy and enjoy
without the molestation or hinderance of the said Nicholas Chaney his
Executors administrators or assigns in like manner and to every intent as if
these presents had not been Executed  In Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of January in the year of our
Lord Eighteen hundred and forty four

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
