237 the one part and Josias Pennington of the City of Baltimore of the other part Witnesseth That whereas the said Philip Clayton Collector as aforesaid on the Eighteenth day of February in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty three levied upon and seized the property herein after named as the property of Jonas Green for the payment of the Taxes due by him to the said City for the years Eighteen hundred and forty forty one and forty two and after giving notice according to Law that he would sell the same on the premises of the said Green on the fourth day of march Eighteen hundred and forty three exposed the same to public sale according to the said notice at which said sale on the said premises the said Josias Pennington having bid the sum of Seventy dollars and forty three Cents therefor and being at that sum the highest bidder became the purchaser thereof and having paid the said sum of money is desirous that a bill of sale should be Executed therefore Therefore This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Philip Clayton as Collector as aforesaid for and in consideration of the premises and of the further sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Josias Pennington at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold assigned and transferred and by these presents doth bargain and sell assign and transfer unto the said James Pennington and his Executors and administrators all the above named property that is to say one cherry one maple and one poplar bedstead one feather bed and one hair Mattress one husk Mattress two pair of blankets one large and one small three cotton comforts Eight pair of Sheets five quilts Eight table Cloths one small wardrobe two wash stands two Chambers one pier and one mantel Glass two book cases one painted book stand two pair of andirons two pair of shovel and tongs one Easy chair two dozen Common and one dozen mahogany chairs one pier table one dining table one small stand one writing desk one brussels carpet one Kulderminster Carpet one pair of plated candlesticks one plated set of castors twelve silver spoons for tea ten silver desert four salt spoons one butter knife one dozen large knives and forks one dozen of small knives and forks twelve glass dishes one Glass pitcher one celery glass one dozen tumblers one dozen punch Cups one small India dining set one white tea set three Chamber sets one small woking stove and two kitchen tables To have and To hold the same unto him the said Josias Pennington and his Executors and administrators forever to and for his and their proper use and for no other use In Testimony whereof the said Philip Clayton the Collector aforesaid has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal on the day and year first herein before mentioned that is to say on the seventh day of march in the year one thousand Eight hundred and forty three Signed Sealed and delivered in Philip Clayton Coll (seal) presence of J W Hunter |
