206 whereof the said Jeremiah Hughes and Elihu S Riley and Samuel Davis have set their hands and seals this twenty seventh day of September Eighteen hundred and forty two and the said Nicholas Brewer Junr admr And The President of the Farmers Bank have signed the same as witnesses to attest their notice of an assent to this Contract Signed sealed and delivered Jerh Hughes (seal) in presence of Elihu S Riley (seal) Wm Glover Nichs Brewer Saml Davis (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty two before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appears Jeremiah Hughes Elihu S Riley and Samuel Davis they being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing deed or indenture and do severally acknowledge the said indenture or Instrument of writing to be their respective act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto Subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid chd Wm Glover 72cts 6 Recorded the 28th day of October 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Dennis H Battee of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty three dollars Current Money to me in hand paid by Charity C Gosnell of the County and state aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof the said Dennis H Battee do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Charity C Gosnell her Executors administrators and assigns one dark bay Horse by name Gabe originally purchased of one John Claytor in this neighbourhood one large bay Horse by name Lookout purchased by me from one Spence of Baltimore in the presence of Samuel Carr one white Mare by name Pleasure entirely blind purchased for me in Baltimore by Isaac Owens partner of Wm Owens deceased also her colts the issue of said Mare since she has been purchased as follows one colt two years old on last April 1842 the other colt Foaled in April last 1842 two oxen purchased by me from one Parrot of the swamp on the bay in the presence of Samuel Watkins then residing on this place the oxen are now the lead steers on the Farm one steer named Merriman the other steer named Barney all of which property as named in the foregoing are now in my possession To have and To hold the said property as named (in) |
