188 in consideration of the sum of one hundred and Fifty dollars and seventy five cents Current money to me in hand paid by Capt Lewis Griffith of the said County and state living on Herring Bay in the said County at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Capt Lewis Griffith his Executors administrators and assigns one Horse about Ten years old one Sorrel Mare about Four years old Seven Hoggs Two Father Beds and Bed steads and my Interest in the Crop now growing in the ground all of which property is now in my possession To have and To hold the same property as above described as above bargained and sold to the said Captn Lewis Griffith his Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said Thomas Rogers for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents to the said Captn Lewis Griffith his executors and administrators and assigns the said described property as above named against me the said Thomas Rogers my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof Provided nevertheless that in case I the said Thomas Rogers shall pay and satisfy to the said Capt Lewis Griffith or his heirs Executors administrators assigns the Sum of one hundred and fifty dollars and seventy five Cents Current money with Interest then due on the same on or before the Twelfth day of July 1844 or before next ensuing then this Deed or Bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect It being the true Intent and meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged by me the said Thomas Rogers to secure to the said Capt Lewis Griffith the payment of the money due by me to him as aforesaid In witness whereof I the said Thomas Rogers have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Forty Two Signed Sealed and delivered in the his presents of us Thomas x Rogers (seal) Lewis Sutton S.r Lewis Tinges mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County To wit On this 12th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Forty two before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid appeared Thomas Rogers the partor Grantor named in the within Bill of sale or Instrument of writing and acknowledged the foregoing writing to be his act and deed and the property therein named to be the right and Estate of the therein named Capt Lewis Griffith the Grantee upon the Condition therein named only according to the true Intent and meaning thereof and the act |
