185 before me a Justice of the peace for Anne Arundel County personally appeared Thomas H Knighton party grantor in the foregoing instrument of writing and acknowledge the same to be his act and deed J W Hunter chd Recorded the 18th day of June 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Richard H Hanlon of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and two dollars Current money of the State of Maryland to me in hand paid by Edward C Williams of the County and State aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt wereof I the said Richard H Hanlon do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Edward C Williams his Executors administrators and assigns one white mare primrose with short tail one white mare jud with short tail one sorrel mare pleasure with short tail one sorrel Stalion Vanburen with short tail one yoke of stears one do Red and white two red Cows twenty Eight head of sheep eleven head of hogs all of which property is now in my possession To have and To hold the same described property above Bargained and sold to the said Edward C Williams his Executors administrators or assigns against me the said Richard H Hanlon my Executors administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents Provided nevertheless that in case I the said Richard H Hanlon shall pay and sattisfy to the said Edward C Williams or to his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of one hundred and two dollars Current money with interest for the same on or before the second day of July next ensuing then this Bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect It being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged by me the said Richard H Hanlon to secure to the said Edward C Williams the payment of the Money afforesaid In Witness wereof I the said R H Hanlon have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the second day of June 1842 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence her of Sarah x Ann Hessey Richard H Hanlon (seal) mark William W Leeders At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this Second day June Eighteen hundred and forty two before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County appears Richard H Hanlon and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such Case made and provided Exd d d Witness my hand William W Leeders paid 54 4 Recorded the 20th day of June 1842 |
