159 At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County Sc Be it remembered that on this twelfth day of February Eighteen hundred and forty two before the subscriber of the state of maryland a Justice of the peace for Anne Arundel County personally appeared George Wells party grantor in the annexed instrument of writing and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed I further Certify that I am satisfied of my own knowledge that the party who has signed and acknowledged the within deed is the same who is mentioned as and professing to be a party grantor in said deed chd Acknowledged before Wm Glover 63.cts 5 Recorded the 12 day of February 1842 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Know all men by these presents that I Thomas B Crandel of the state of maryland and County aforesaid for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars and seventy five cents Current money to me in hand paid by John H Urquhart of the same state and County as aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Thos B Crandle do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John H Urquhart his Executors administrators and assigns The following property viz.t Two oxen one of which is Ten years old and the other one Four or Five years old but they work together in a common yoke to draw in labour together To have and To hold the said property so as aforesaid described to the said John Henry Urquhart his Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the said Thomas B Crandel for myself my heirs Executors and administrators aforesaid yoke of oxen to the said John H Urquhart his Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents provided nevertheless that in case I the said Thomas B Crandle shall pay and satisfy to the said John H Urquhart his Executors administrators or assigns the sum of Fifty Dollars and seventy five cents Current money with the Interest due thereon due on the same on or before the 8 Day of February next ensuing then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect It being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said property is mortgaged by me the said Thos B Crandle to the said John H Urquhart for the payment of the money as aforesaid as a Collateral Security on the same In Witness whereof I the said Thomas B Crandle have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the Eighth day of February 1842 Signed Sealed and delivered in the presents of Thomas B Crandall (seal) Lewis Sutton S.r & William H Cunningham At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit |
