158 forty first lines being first made Test Zachariah Merriken Wm W Leeders At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this ninth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty two before the subscribers two Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid appears personally Mary Tayman she being known to us to be the person named in the above instrument of writing and doth acknowledges the said instrument of writing to be her act and deed In Testimony whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names on the day and year first aforesaid Exd d d Zachariah Merriken William W Leeders chd 67 5½ Recorded the 10 day of February 1842 This Indenture made this twelfth day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and forty two between George Wells of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland of the one part and Eli Duvall of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia of the other part whereas the said Eli Duvall by his Indenture of mortgage bearing date on or about the fourteenth day of november Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight duly executed acknowledges and recorded in Liber W L G No 2 folio 1 one of the personal records of Anne Arundel County did for and in consideration that he was indebted to the said George Wells in the sum of fifty dollars for the House and Lot which he then occupied and rented from the said George Wells and also for the better securing the payment of the rent that might thereafter become due bargain and sell unto the said George Wells a negro man named Isaac reference being had to the above recited deed of mortgage will more fully and at large appear And whereas the said Eli Duvall hath fully paid and satisfied to him the said George Wells the above mentioned Sum of money and the interest thereon he the said George Wells doth agree to execute this Instrument of writing as a full release of the above mentioned negro man Isaac Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said George Wells for and in consideration of the above mentioned sum of money and the interest thereon he the said George Wells hath and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell release and confirm unto the said Eli Duvall his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever the above named negro man Isaac To have and To hold the said Negro man Isaac to him the said Eli Duvall his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and behoof and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever In witness whereof the said George Wells hath on the day and year above first written subscribed his name and affixed his seal Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Wm Glover G Wells (seal) |
