151 & Thomas Purdy his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Vachel Sewell my Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in case I the said Vachel Sewell shall pay and satisfy to the said Henry & Thomas Purdy on or before the 30 day of august next or to their Executors administrators or assigns the sum of Eighty one dollars and sixty Eight Cents Current money it being the amount of my note to Richd C Hardesty and endorsed by the said Henry & Thomas Purdy dated some time in Eighteen hundred and thirty Eight and Payable on demand with interest from date then this bill of sale and every matter and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect it being the true intent and meaning thereof that the said described property are mortgaged by me the said Vachel Sewell to secure to the said Henry & Thomas Purdy the payment of the money aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Vachel Sewell have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the thirtyeth 1st day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two Signed sealed and delivered in the presents of John Collinson Vachel Sewell (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this 1st day of January Eighteen hundred and forty two before me one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County appears Vachel Sewell and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such Case made and provided Witness my hand Wm Glover chd 57 4½ Recorded the 7 day of January 1842 Know all Men by these presents that I Charles Duvall of Prince Georges County and State of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars Current money with legal interest from the 13 day of may 1841 due from me to Elizabeth Merriken for which she holds my bond dated as above mentioned and for the more fully securing the same have granted bargained sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell unto the said Elizabeth Merriken her Executors administrators or assigns negroes Vina Angeline Allen Henry and Sundy and now in the occupation of the said Charles Duvall To have & To hold all & singular the said negroes above bargained & sold or mentioned & intended so to be to the said Elizabeth Merriken her executors administrators & assigns until the payment of the above mentioned sum of money & interest on the same and I the said Charles Duvall for myself & my heirs all & singular the said negroes to the said Elizabeth Merriken her heirs & assigns against me the said Charles Duvall my heirs & assigns and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant and defend by these presents In Witness whereof I the said Charles Duvall do hereunto affix my seal and seal this 15 day of January 1842 Chs Duvall (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of J W Hunter Wm W Leeders Recorded the 17 day of January 1842 |
