Administrators and assigns forever and
they the said grantors for themselves their
heirs executors and administrators the said
property above described unto the said Ellridge
G. Kilbourn his executors administrators and assigns
against them the said grantors their Executors
and Administrators and against all and every
other person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents
provided nevertheless and it is the true intent
and meaning of these presents and of the said
parties hereto that in case the said grantors
their Executors or Administrators shall well and
truly pay and satisfy to the said Ellridge G. Kilbourn
his Executors Administrators or assigns
the said sum of two hundred and fifty five dollars
and twenty five cents lawful money aforesaid
with interest for the same on or before the first
day of January 1856 then this Bill of sale and every
Matter and thing herein expressed shall be null
and void it being the true intent and meaning
thereof that the said property is Mortgaged by them
to the said Ellridge G. Kilbourn to secure to the said
Kilbourn his Executors Administrators or assigns
the payment of the said sum of two hundred
and fifty five dollars and twenty five cents
In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our
hands and seals this twentieth day of January
Eighteen hundred and fifty five

Be it remembered that on this 20.th day of January
1855 before the subscriber a justice of the Peace for
said county appear John Lookingland and Joseph
Lookingland and acknowledged the above Instrument
of writing to be their respective act and
deed according to the true intent and meaning
thereof and at the same time and place also appeared
before me Ellridge G. Kilbourn the Mortgagee
in the said Mortgage named and made
oath that the consideration set forth in the
said Mortgage is true and bona fide as stated
