within or provide access to Department of
Housing and Community Development
(DHCD) designated revitalization areas.
Funds may not be used to design or
construct water or sewer lines, tourist
facilities, non-normal landscaping, or
streetscape improvements not relating to a
transportation function.
Further provided that the Maryland
Department of Transportation shall jointly
develop and select transportation-related
projects in coordination with DHCP and
the Department of Business and Economic
Development (DBED). In order to
maximize the resources of the three
agencies, it is the intent of the budget
committees that the selection criteria for
projects proposed for funding are modified
to ensure that improvements contributing to
a comprehensive revitalization effort
receive the highest priority.

Further provided that a report which lists the
projects and areas targeted for funding in
Fiscal Year 1998, and how those projects are
coordinated with DHCD and DBED projects
shall be jointly developed by the DHCD,
MDOT. and DBED and submitted to the
budget committees by October 15, 1997 for
review and comment or the passage of 45 days
from the date of receipt..................................
