384 these presents does give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said John S Staplefort his heirs and assigns Negro man Sam To have and to hold the said Negro Man Sam unto the said John S Staplefort his heirs and assigns forever provided allways and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties hereunto that if the said Samuel Burns shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John S Staplefort the sum of two hundred and forty dollars and Eighty five cents with legal interest from the Eighth of October 1851. In six Months from the date of these presents. Then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing herein Contained to the contrary not withstanding. In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix my seal the day and year first above written In Testimony whereof I Signed sealed and delivered Samuel Burns (Seal) in presence of D. W. Tyler State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on this Eightieth day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state aforesaid in and for said County the said Samuel Burns party mortgagee and acknowledged the aforegoing to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses & purposes therein Mentioned. At the same time came also the said John S. Staplefort and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God. That the Consideration is true and Bona fide as therein set fourth agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided Recd of John S. Staplefort the 24th day of December 1851 15 cts in lieu of a stamp on this Mortgage bill of sale F. I. Henry Clk Acknowledged and sworn before D W. Tyler Hiram W Woolford Be it remembered and it is hereby from Certified that the following Bill of Sale Isaac Bailey was received and recorded on the 30th day December 1851 This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty one. Between Isaac Bayley of Dorchester County of the one part and Hiram W Woolford of the said County of the other part Whereas the said Isaac Bailey owes and stands Justly indebted to the said Hiram W. Woolford in the sum of thirty thou dollars and twenty five cents current money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to Execute these present Now Therefore This Indenture witnesseth that the said Isaac Bayley for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar current money to him in hand paid by the said Hiram W Woolford at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents |
