and Elizabeth Meekins of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid by
Levin Phillips of Dorchester County in the said state at and before the sealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof we the said John Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins do
hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold unto the said Levin Phillips his
executors, administrators and assigns one negro woman Eliza, one Girl child Polly,
one boy child Peter which said negroes are now remaining standing and being in
a certain messuage or tenement situate in Meekins' neck and in said County aforesaid
and now in the occupation of the said John Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins.  To have
and to hold said negroes above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so
to be to the said Levin Phillips his executors, administrators and assigns forever and
we the said John Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins for ourselves our heirs executors and
administrators all and singular the said negroes & other the premises unto the said
Levin Phillips his executors administrators and assigns against us the said John
Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins our executors and administrators and against all
and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend
by these presents; of all and singular the said Negroes and other the premises we
the said John Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins have put the said Levin Phillips in
full possession by delivering to him the said Levin Phillips the negro woman Eliza
at the sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby
bargained and sold or mentioned & intended to be so unto the said Levin Phillips
as aforesaid.  In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this
twentieth day of July in the year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four.

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twentieth day of July in the
year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four before the subscriber a Justice of
the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally
appears John Phillips and Elizabeth Meekins they being known to me to be the persons
who is named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing Bill
of sale or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of
writing to be their act and deed.  In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and
seal on the day and year aforesaid                                        Fielder Jones   (seal)


Henry Bibby            Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Bill of Sale
     from   Ex.d         was recorded on the 25.th day of July 1844, To wit:
Isaac H. Andrews   Know all men by these presents that I Isaac H. Andrews of Dorchester
                              County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of ^the^ sum
of one thousand dollars current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by Henry Bibby
of the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said indenture or instrument of
writing to be their act and deed.  In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and
seal on the day and year aforesaid                                       Fielder Jones   (seal)
