195. Levin and Henry M. Phillips Be it Remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded from Ex.d on the Sixth day of March Anno Domini 1844 To wit Reuben E. Phillips Know all men by these presents that I Reuben E. Phillips of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand three hundred Dollars Current money to me in hand paid at and before the Sealing and deliver of these presents by Levin Phillips and Henry M. Phillips the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged I the said Reuben E. Phillips has bargained and sold and granted and by the [illegible] do grant bargain and Sell unto the said Levin Phillips and Henry M Phillips their Executors administrators or assigns all the Goods Negroes household stuff farming implements and furniture hereafter particularly mentioned that is to say one negro man Jacob one negro Girl Eliza one negro Girl Mary Negro Girl Amanda one negro boy Marshall, Negro boy Henry Negro boy Alexander, one bay Mare Salima, one bay mare Lady, one bay horse named Jack, one Sorrel horse named Aback Two yoke of oxen, six Milch Cows eight young Cattle, ten Sheep, twenty five hogs two ox Carts four ploughs three Harrows one Gig and Harness one hundred and fifty barrels of Corn, one half of the Crop of Wheat and oaths now growing upon the farm whereas the said Reuben Phillips now resides four beds and furniture one Clock one looking Glass one Secretary one half dozen chairs two walnut tables five thousand pounds of blade fodder and all the remainder of the household and kitchen furniture and farming utensils now upon the farm Whereon the said Phillips resides and unmentioned in this bill of Sale To Have and to Hold all and singular the goods and chattels negroes furniture farming utensils &c.a and the other premises above bargained and sold or intended to be bargained and sold to the said Levin Phillips and Henry M Phillips their Executors Administrators or assigns forever And I the said Reuben E. Phillips for myself my heirs and Administrators all and singular the Goods and chattels and other premises against my self and every other person whatsoever do and will forever warrant and defend by these presents all of which goods and chattels Negroes household Stuff farming utensils and other premises I the said Reuben E. Phillips have put the said Levin Phillips and Henry M. Phillips in possession by delivering them one chair at the sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises hereby bargained and sold or intended so to be bargained and sold unto the said Levin Phillips and Henry M. Phillips In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Sixth day of March Eighteen hundred and forty four Signed Sealed and delivered In the presence of Reuben E. Phillips (Seal) Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit Be it Remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this Sixth day of march in the Year Eighteen hundred and forty four Personally appeared before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County Reuben E. Phillips the Grantor in the above named Bill of Sale and Acknowledged the same to be his Act and deed In Testimony Deld L. Phillips 1 Augt 1844 |
