                         Matthew Traviss's Dep.s about Taylors Folley
                                                      August y.e 2.d 1712
       Dorchester County                 
                                     By Virtue of a Comission to us the subscribers
       Directed bearing date the Twenty first day of June Annoq Dm 1712
       Impowering us to call before us all such Evidences as should be
       Nominated and produced by Matthew Traviss touching the bounds of
       a Certain Tract of Land called Taylors Folley and by Virtue of the said
       Comission came before us James Pattison aged about fifty three years
       or thereabouts being sworne on the holy Evangelist touching the
       originall bounds of the afd Land called Taylors Folley who on his
       oath doth declare that about six or eight and Twenty years agoe
       he the Depon.t came to the house of John Taylor & asked for John Taylor
       and this Depon.t was told he was in the woods and in this Depon.t went
       into the woods to the said John Taylor who was then the proper owner
       of the said Land and then in possession of the same and when this
       Depon.t came to the afd John Taylor he was a makeing of a Corner
       out of a pine Tree and this Depon.t steping upon the pine Tree & looked
       toward the Bay side which was about fifty yards distant or less
       Espied toward the said bayside a bounded oake tree and this dep.o
       asked the said John Taylor whose bounded tree that was who directly
       answered it was one of the bounded Trees of Taylors Folley which by
       the pattent appears to be the first tree and that it stood as near
       as this Depon.t cann tell in the place where there is now a ^new^ bounded
       Redd oak marked with twelve Notches and further this Dep.o saith
       not                        sworne before us the day & year above written
