859 That the bounded Tree of Woodman Stokleys Land did stand within thirty or forty yards where now there is a Stake putt up & further Doth declare upon oath that upwards of forty years agoe Edward Keen did Imploy the Said Williams to Maul two thousand Fence Railes and did make a Fence from the Mill pond all along the Main Road side untill it came near or by Mathew Burnhams Dwelling house and from thence to or Near the said Keens Dwelling house John Godsgrace aged fifty years or thereabouts standing by a stake declares upon oath that about thirty four years agoe Rideing a long the Road with Fancis Hutchins pointed up a Hill & said there stood the bounded Tree of Woodman Stokely Land & that it was shewed him the said Hutchins by William Hows the said Tree was an Oake and lay then upon the Ground William Williams Aged about seventy or Eighty Years doth swear upon the holy Evangelist that about fifty years agoe he was told y.t the bounded Tree of Woodmans Stoakley Land did stand within thirty or forty yards where now there is a stake put up & further saith not Thomas Edmonds aged fifty one years or thereabouts declares upon Oath that thirty years agoe or thereabouts his overseer John Danniel when they were a Clearing of the Ground came to a Tree that appeared to be a Line Tree and the said Daniel ordered the said Tree to be left & said it was a Line Tree of Hutchins Land the said Tree standing near a place now maked In Witness whereof Wee have hereunto sett our hands and seales this 25.th day of October 1712 John Leach (S) Henry Cox (S) |
