763 Henry Wrights Depositions about a Tract of Land Called Smiths Ridge Maryland fs By Virtue of a Comission out of her Maj.tys high Court of Chancery to me Col William Coursey directed Dated bearing Date the 10.th day of this present month of October to Examin Evidences touching the purchase and payment of a parcell of Land part of a Tract of Land called Smiths Ridge lying in Queen Anns County and bought by one Henry Price of one Robert Atkison Henry Wright who said out the said Comission hath produced to me the following Evidences whose Depositions touching the premises are as followeth Richard Moore of the said County Aged about thirty Nine Years being sworne upon the holy Evangelist Deposeth that about Twenty two or Twenty three Years past this Depon.t then Liveing with his father in Law one Henry Price he this Depon.t well knoweth and was present at the said Henry Prices Purchaseing of one Robert Atkinson Three hundred Acres of Land which he understood to be part of a Tract of Land called Smiths Ridge lying in the Said County the which he the said Henry Price after sold to Maj.r John Hawkins and one Henry Wright and that the purchase of the ^said^ Land was Nine thousand pounds of Tobacco and that this Depon.t saw at the said time of purchase the said Henry Price pass his Bill to the said Rob.t Atkison for the said Tobacco and also the said Robert Atkison past his bond to the said Henry Price for the makeing over the said Land and further that this Depon.t was present and did see the said Rob.t Atchison marke bound and Lay out to the said Henry Price the said Land sold as afd and farther saith not the Marke October 22.d 1711 Will Coursey of Ric.d M Moore Jurat Coram Me Henry Williams of the said County Aged about forty three years being sworne upon the holy Evangelist Deposeth and sayeth that about Twelve or thirteen years past he this Depon.t then living at the house of one Henry Price this Depon.ts father in Law he this Depon.t hath heard the said Henry Price often say that he had paid all for his Land which was the Land he then lived on and which he after sold to Maj.r John Hawkins and one Henry Wright (and) |
