                   Richard Vowles Depo.s Concerning the bounds of his Land
      
             In obedience to a Comission to us directed Impowering and Requireing as to call &
       cause to come before us all such Evidences as shall ^should^ be to You Nominated & produced
       unto us by Richard Vowles liveing on S.t Clements Bay in S.t Mary County
       and to Examin them and every of them on their Corporall Oaths to be by us
       Administred on the holy Evangelist touching their knowledge and Remembrance
       of the bounds of a parcell of Land belonging to the said Vowles of the afd
       County being the dwelling plantation of the said Vowles as by the said Com.sn
       dated the first day of August ^Anno^ 1711 (may and doth appear Wee therefore
       at the Request of the Said Vowles sumoned & called before us John Nevett of
       the said County planter who being sworne upon the holy Evangelist declared
       as followeth upon the place that near the place where he stood (being upon
       the side of S.t Clements Bay) he knew and saw a bounded spanish oake above
       forty Years past he being now about seventy Years of age and that he saw
       the said oak about Twenty Years past standing on the side of S.t Clements
       Bay upon a Narrow Oyster Bank near a small bite or Cove and that the said
       tree was since washed into the bay and that he knew the said Tree to be the
       bounds of two severall Tracts of Land the one called Redbudd thicket the now
       Dwelling plantation of the said Vowles and the other called Rocky Point
       and that the said two tracts of Land did formerly belong to one Richard Nevett the
       Depon.ts father

                                  Wee likewise at y.e same place and time being the date of these
       presents swore Eliz.a Gough aged about Twenty and Eight Years who swore that
       she being formerly the wife of George Medcalf decd who was possessed of a Tract
       of Land lying on the East Side of S.t Clements Bay called & knowne by the name
       of Rocky point the said George in his life time did tell this depon.t that a Certain
       Tree which formerly stood on an oyster shell branch near a Small Cove being near the
