       Whereby they made the Deft their owne by altering the property and as to William
       Offetts obligation mentioned in the Said Bill the Defendant doth acknowledge to
       have Delivered the same unto the said Barton but afterwards (being satisfied that
       what he owed the said Barton was fully satisfied) he Countermanded the paym.t
       of the said Offetts obligation  And this Defend.t denys that he knows anything of
       any papers being burnt as in the Bill alleaded neither did he ever Refused to
       make such Leagall Assignment of the Said Webbs obligation as the Compl.t should
       at any time require or give such power as were Necessary for the Recovering the
       Effects of the said obligations  And this Defendant does owne that there was in
       the said Testators life a Communication between them about this Defendants
       Mortgageing his then dwelling plantation for secureing ^of^ such Ballance as was
       due to the Testator but afterwards finding that his wife ^was^ dissatisfied thereat) he
       tooke Care to make satisfaction another way which he Questions not make
       appear in this honble Court  This Defendant does likewise owne that the
       Defendant he has heard say and does beleive that Humphry Webb in the Bill
       Mentioned is fledd out of this province and as he is Credibly Informed lives now
       in the Colony of Virginia without that that any other who Matter or thing in the
       said Bill mentioned and not herein before Answered Confessed and a Voided Traversed
       and Denyed is true and therefore ought in all Equity Justice and Good Conscience
       to be Releived in our Said Court  Whereupon our ^said^ keeper of our Seale did in our
       Said Court Determine Sentence and Decree that the Defendant in the Bill of
       Complaint specified shall pay unto the Said Complainants as the Estate of
       Major William Barton deceased the Sum of Twenty three pounds Sterl Eighteen
       shillings and five pence Sterl Money and two thousand six hundred and Seaventy
       Pounds of Tobacco Cost of this Suit  Wee do therefore ^hereby^ Command You the said Ninian
       Beale that to all Intents and purposes You performe fullfill and Comply with
       the Tenour of the Decree afd by paying unto the said James Haddock and Sarah
       his wife Executrix as afd their Execut.rs Adm.rs or assignes the afd sum of Twenty
       three pounds Eighteen shillings and five pence sterl money and two thousand
