(494) Depositions for Land for M.r Notley Rozer Filed October y.e 1.st 1702 Maryland ds By Vertue of a Commission out of the Court of Chancery of this province of Maryland dated the Tenth Day of July Anno Domini 1702 and directed to us Major William Dent and Cap.t Benja Hall to examin such Wittnesses to be produced by Notly Rozer Gen.t touching some Lands in Charles County and elsewhere in the sd province held by his Father Benj.a Rozer deceased in his life time and descended to him the sd Notley Rozer by the death of his said Father In Obedience whereunto we mett at the house of the said Notley Rozer the Eight Day of Septemb.r Anno Domini 1702 And then appeared before us Robert Goodrick of Charles County aged seaventy years or thereab.ts who being sworn upon the holy Evangelist declared the Truth of his knowledge in the p.rmises the said Notley Rozer therefore that the following Interrogatories may be propounded to him viz.t What do you know of George Thompson selling the Land to Coll.o Benj.a Roser called Thompson Town or any other Land whatsoever? Or what do you know of George Thompsons making Joynture of any of his Lands to his Wife before or after Marriage? Declare the truth hereof with all due Circumstances He answereth and declareth that before the Intermarriage of George Thompson with his sister Margaret Goodrick att Jacksons Widow (w.ch was between Twenty and thirty years since) he the said George Thompson made a joynture of all his Lands in Charles County to the sd Margarett and her Heirs and afterwards sold the sd Lands to Coll.o Benjamin Rozer and besides the Considerations in hand paid the said George Thompson demanded a peice of plate of tenn pounds price to be given to his said Wife Margarett after his Intermarriage w.ch the said Coll.o Rozer refusing to give & afterwards in some short time going for England & remaining ag.n y.e s.d Margarett annexed or was lent for to make over the said Lands to the said Coll.o Rozer and he asking of her whether She would make over the said Lands to him she replied that she would not do it unless He would give her a peice of plate of Twenty pounds price but he said he would not give her any Consideration having paid the said George Thompson considerable satisfaction for the s.d Lands The s.d Deponant ^afterwards^ asked his said sister Margarett Thompson how she could have the Conscience to demand a peice of plate of twenty pounds price of the said Coll.o Rozer when he had paid her Husband the full purchase money for the said Land as he believed; to w.ch She wuld with as much Conscience |
