396 Deposition of W.m Gary for Jacob Gibson By virtue of a Comission from y.e Court of Chancery to us directed dated y.e first day of this Instant Sept.r We y.e subscribers do testifie That having called before us y.e within named William Gary (aged about fifty nine years) We have examined y.e s.d Will.m upon oath and y.e s.d Deponent saith That about thirty years ago or more living in S.nt Michaels River & in a Creek of y.e s.d River called Leeds Creek had a knowledg of a certain tract of Land called Champingham then in y.e possession of one Abraham Bishop & about twenty odd years ago saw y.t Land run out & two or three times since by y.e then County surveyors Who allwaies began at a bounded Locust being allwaies deemed y.e first bounded tree of a parcell of Land called Bendon & from thence runing down Leeds Creek to a point of Marsh being y.e outermost point of Leeds Creek making into St Michaels River About wch Run in a small Cove called Bishops Cove at wch sd point was formerly many Cedars growing And y.t he y.e s.d W.m w.th some others of the eldest standers has looked severall times for a bounded Cedar but never could find any at y.e s.d point nor between y.e aforesaid Locust being y.e first bounded tree of y.e aforesaid tract & y.e point Witness our hands & seals y.e 2.d day of Sept.r in y.e year of our Lord 1698 True Copie of y.e John Hawkins (loc) Originall paper (sigil) filed in y.e office Edward Lloyd (loc) Recorded here by (sigil) John Freeman Regist.r Maryland fs Deposition of Wolf Hunt The Deposition of Woolfren Hunt of Annarandell County Chirurgion aged forty four Yeares of Thereabouts saith that he this Deponent in y.e Yeare 1681 being then a servant to Coll Phillimon Loyd was Present & Carried y.e chaine at executing a Warrant of Resurvey for uniting of severall tracts of Land belonging unto y.e s.d Loyd Lying & being in Wye River on an Island called Loyds Insula does verit well remember y.t Coll Loyd att y.e end of y.e second Line of y.e Land then surveyed w.ch run into y.e Plantation Capt Hemsly then lived on he sent for y.e s.d Hemsly & desired him to bring his own Circumferenter with him w.ch he did & therewith set of y.e Course they run as well as y.e Surveyor that then Surveyed y.e Same To prevent any Eror w.ch he did & agree with y.e Course & this Deponent doth Likewise Remember y.t in running y.e s.d Line it run y.e Plantation y.e s.d Capt Hemsly Complained y.t that Line would Prejudice him & thereupon Coll Loyd replyed y.t y.e Course would not carry them otherwise they not having run into any Pattent or Land that belonged to y.e |
