[11-10] 11-110. Same -- Layoffs and suspensions.
(A) (1) [An] AN employee WHO IS LAID OFF BECAUSE [in]
a position [to be] HAS BEEN abolished, discontinued, or
vacated[, because of] DUE TO A change in departmental
organization[,] or through stoppage or lack of work[, shall
be laid off and his name] SHALL BE placed on the eligible
list for the class of position from which [he] THE EMPLOYEE
is laid off.
(2) [and he] IF A VACANCY OCCURS IN THE
EMPLOYEE'S CLASSIFIED POSITION, THE EMPLOYEE shall be
[re-employed] REEMPLOYED in preference to any eligible
person WHO IS not an employee of the [commission on or after
June 1, 1947, should a vacancy occur in his classified
position] WSSC.
(B) (1) The [commission] WSSC may [for disciplinary
purposes] suspend an employee FOR DISCIPLINARY PURPOSES for
not over [thirty] 30 days.
(2) Each suspension shall be without pay[;
provided, however, that no]. AN employee [shall] MAY NOT be
suspended for [such] disciplinary purposes over [thirty] 30
days in any calendar year.
[11—11] 11-111. Vacation and sick leave.
(A) Every classified employee OF THE WSSC shall
receive [as vacation a leave of absence with pay of such]
THE number of days as PAID VACATION LEAVE THAT the
[commission may specify] WSSC SPECIFIES by RULE OR
regulation[, and the regulation may be amended or revised by
the commission from time to time]. Any RULE OR regulation
adopted [hereunder] UNDER THIS SUBSECTION shall provide for
[not less than ten] AT LEAST 10 days [nor] BUT NOT more than
[thirty] 30 days OF PAID VACATION LEAVE in any year],].
[and the] THE number of days specified shall be generally
consistent with the vacation leave schedules [obtaining in]
PROVIDED BY other governmental agencies in the area of the
[Washington Suburban Sanitary District] SANITARY DISTRICT.
(B) (1) In addition to [such] annual leave, any
CLASSIFIED employee OF THE WSSC shall [be entitled to sick
leave with pay for not in excess of fifteen] RECEIVE UP TO
15 working days AS PAID SICK LEAVE in any calendar year[;].
[provided, however, that if] IF any employee in any calendar
year uses less than the full amount of sick leave allowable,
[such unused leave shall be accumulative] THE EMPLOYEE MAY
ACCUMULATE UNUSED SICK LEAVE up to [sixty] 60 working days
or more as the [commission may prescribe] WSSC SPECIFIES by
rule OR REGULATION.
(2) [and shall be available to such employee
for] AN EMPLOYEE MAY USE sick leave at any time. [Any]
