A House Joint Resolution concerning

Harford County - Mass Transit

FOR the purpose of requesting the Department of
Transportation and the Mass Transit Administration
conduct a study of the mass transit needs of Harford
County, and requesting that this study be presented to
certain persons; and requesting that the study be
completed by a certain date.

WHEREAS, The cost of gasoline is continually rising;
and

WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of each individual
and the public to conserve as much gasoline as possible; and

WHEREAS, The United States, in order to remain strong
both financially and militarily, must break its reliance
upon foreign oil; and

WHEREAS, The President of the United States has called
on everyone to conserve gasoline; and

WHEREAS, The use of a mass transportation system leads
to conservation of gasoline; and

WHEREAS, The residents of Harford County wish to
participate in their patriotic duty of conserving gasoline;
and

WHEREAS, Many residents of Harford County commute to
the City of Baltimore and its environs; and

WHEREAS, The City of Baltimore has Mass Transit
Administration operates an existing mass transit system In
the Baltimore region and plans to further develop that
system; and

WHEREAS, No plans exist at the present time to extend
the City of Baltimore's that mass transit system into
Harford County; and

WHEREAS, The residents of Harford County desire to have
a mass transit system which ties into the mass transit
system serving Baltimore City the Baltimore region; now,
