   June 21. 1785 Then came Phillip Reed John Willis & Ebezer Ebenezer
   Neal the three Subscribing Witnesses to the within last Will and —
   Testament of John Ashley Junr. late of Kent County deceased, and
   Severally made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they
   did See the Testator herein named Sign and Seal this Will, And that
   they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his
   last Will and Testament, and that he was at the same time of Sound
   disposing mind memory and Understanding According to the best
   of their Apprehensions, And that they Respectively Subscribed their
   names as Witnesses to this Will in the presence, and at the Request
   of the testator, and in the presence of each other. ——

    In the name of God Amen I Issac Spencer of Kent County
   and State of Maryland being weak of body but of good Sound –
   mind and memory do this twentyeth day of May one thousand
   Seven hundred and Eighty three make & ordain this my last Will ~
   and Testament in the manner and form as follows to Wit principally
   and first of all I give and bequeath unto my loving Son William –
   Spencer begotten of my Wife before Marrage my plantation & Mill
   on Prickel Pare branch in Kent County named Darby Smaley,-
   Billys lot and Neglect, I also give my said Son William three
   hundred Acres of land in Queen Anns County named Sandy Hurst,
   and the Pearl to be laid out in the following maner, begining
   at the mouth of the pearl creek and runing up the River till a
   South line from the River will make up three hundred Acres all
   the above lands I give to him his Heirs & Assigns for ever. —
   Secondly I give and bequeath unto my loving Son Isaac Spencer ~
   my dwelling plantation called Marrow Bone; also part of a tract
   called Grantham, Smiths Point, and Vianna, Mount Harmon, -
   friendship, and Saint Patricks Garden, as also my houses & lotts
   of New Market as also a peace of land in Queen Anns County
   called Crumpton all to him his heirs & Assigns for ever —
