    In the name of God Amen I John Ashley Junr of Kent
   County in the State of Maryland being sick and weak in Body
   but of Sound and disposing mind memory and Understanding
   Considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the –
   time thereof, and being desireous to Settle my worldly affairs –
   and thereby be the better prepaired to leave this world when it
   shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make & publish –
   this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following
   that is to Say . . . . First and principally I commit my Soul into the
   hands of Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently
   buryed at the discretion of my Executors herein after named, And
   after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise & bequeath
   as follows . . . . I give & bequeath to my Sister Milcah Ashley my
   plantation called & known by the name of Ashleys Green Containing
   about Eighty Acres more or less to her the said Milcha Ashley and
   her heirs in fee Simple. . . . . Item I devise and bequeath all my
   personal Estate of whatsoever kind or name it may be called held
   or known to my afd Sister Milcah Ashley and her heirs ——
   And Lastly I do hereby constitute & appoint my afd Sister Milcah —
   Ashley to be joint Executrix with James Neal Senr. of this my last
   Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former Wills by me
   heretofore made Ratifying & Confirming this & none other to be
   my last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I have –
   hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this twelfth day
   of April Anno domini one thousand Seven hundred & Eighty ~

   Signed Sealed published and declared by John Ashley Junr. the –
   within named Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in
   the presence of us who at his request, and in his presence have
   Subscribed our names as Witneses thereto . ——
