MARVIN MANDEL, Governor
As to use of this definition for financing
purposes, see, also, §3-101(b) of this
article. (G) AIRPORT. "AIRPORT" MEANS ANY AREA ESTABLISHED FOR THE LANDING
AND TAKING OFF OF AIRCRAFT, INCLUDING ANY APPURTENANT
AIRPORT FACILITIES. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language
derived without substantive change from and
substituted for Art. 1A, §1-112, which defines
"landing area". Presently, both of the terms "airport" and
"airport facility" are defined synonymously in
Art. 1A, §1—109; adoption of this definition
better clarifies the conceptual differences
between an airport and an airport facility,
particularly as the former is used in Subtitle
3 of this title relating to the licensing and
registration of "airports". Thus, the new definition indicates that
"airport facilities" are integral parts of an
airport to which they are appurtenant and that
the term should not be used simply as a
synonym for "airport". Deletion of the present definition of "landing
area" and use of the term "airport" in its
place similarly avoids the present confusion
arising out of the incorrect use of the term
"landing area" in present Art. 1A, §6—604 (now
Subtitle 3 of this title), as if that term
meant the same as an airport, although defined
in present Art. 1A, §1-112 as but a part of an
airport. (H) AIRPORT FACILITY. "AIRPORT FACILITY" INCLUDES ANY ONE OR MORE OR
COMBINATION OF: (1) LANDS, AIRFIELD IMPROVEMENTS, TERMINAL
AREA IMPROVEMENTS, GENERAL AVIATION FACILITIES, AIR CARGO
FACILITIES, GENERAL SITE IMPROVEMENTS, UTILITIES, ROADS,
STREETS, PARKING LOTS, AND OTHER FACILITIES USEFUL OR
DESIGNED FOR USE IN CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION OF AN
AIRPORT; AND (2) ALL OTHER APPURTENANCES AND EQUIPMENT
USEFUL OR DESIGNED FOR USE IN THE HANDLING Of AIR CARRIER
SERVICE, GENERAL AVIATION ACTIVITIES, AND OTHER RELATED
ACTIVITIES.
