Ex.d & dl.d
          This Indenture made the twentieth day of August in the year one
       thousand seven hundred and Eighty five  Between Thomas Beard of Ann
       Arundel County Planter of the one part and Allen Quynn of the City of Annapolis
       in the County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth Whereas the said Thomas
       Beard stands indebted unto the said Allen Quynn in the sum of one hundred
       and sixty seven pounds six shillings and six pence Current Money  And the
       said Allen Quynn hath become security for the payment of sixteen thousand
       weight of Tobacco fee the said Thomas Beard to a certain William Weems and for
       the payment of the sum of Fifty pounds Current MOney to Jeremiah Townley Chase
       Now this Indenture Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of
       five shillings current money in hand paid to the said Thomas Beard the receipt
       whereof he doth hereby acknowledge he the said Thomas Beard hath granted
       bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto him
       the said Allen Quynn his heirs & assigns for ever all that Tract or parcel
       of Land called and known by the name of Friends Choice containing one
       hundred and Eighty ^Eight^ Acres more or less lying and being in Ann Arunde County
       aforesaid and also the following Negroes to wit one Negro woman Named
       Easter one Negro woman Named Cassandra one Negro Girl named Rachel
       one Negro Girl named Sall one Negro Girl named Easter one Negro Girl Named
       Jane one Negro man Named Charles one Negro man named Dick ^and^ one Negro
       man Named Ness  To have and To hold the said Tract of Land called friends
       choice and the Nine Negroes before mentioned unto the said Allen Quynn
       his Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever and he the said Thomas
       Beard for himself his Heirs his Heirs Executors and Administrators the said
       Bargained premisses unto the said Allen Quynn his Heirs Executors Administrators
       and assigns shall and will against all persons whatsoever warrant and
       forever defend by these presents  Provided Always and these presents are
       upon this Condition that if the said Thomas Beard his Executors Administrators
       or assigns do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Allen Quynn
       his Executors Administrators or assigns the aforesaid sum of one hundred and sixty seven
       pounds six shillings and six pence Current Money above mentioned with Interest also Indemnify
       the said Allen Quynn from the payment of the said sixteen thousand weight of Tobacco
       with Interest due the said William Weems and the fifty pounds current money before mentioned
       due Jeremiah Townley Chase for which the said Allen Quynn stands security for
       for the redemption of the said Bargained premisses then this present Deed to be Void
       or else to remain in full force  And the said Thomas ^Beard^ for himself his Heirs Executors
       and Administrators doth by these presents further covenant and agree to and with
       the said Allen Quynn his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns that he the
       said Thomas Beard his heirs Executors and Administrators shall and will well and
       truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Allen Quynn his Executors and Administrators
       the aforesaid sum of one hundred and sixty seven pounds six shillings
       and six pence with legal Interest thereon and will indemnify him the said
       Allen Quynn his heirs Executors and Administrators from the payment of the
       said sixteen thousand weight of Tobacco due the aforesaid William Weems with
       Interest and the said sum of fifty pounds Current Money due the said Jeremiah
       Townley Chase for which the said Allen Quynn stands security as aforesaid
       And the said Thomas Beard for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators further
