       On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was endorsed as follows to wit,

       reced on the Day and year first within written of and from the within Named Robert Lawson the sum
       of five Shillings Current Money being the Consideration within mentioned to be by him paid to me

       On the Eighteenth Day of April 1771 Came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Provincial
       Justices the within Named Benjamin Thomas and Sylvester Coffer and did severally acknowledge
       the within Instrument of writing to be their respective Act and Deed and the Land and Appurtenances
       within mentioned to be Right and Estate of the within named Robert Lawson his Heirs and Assigns
       forever according to the true Intent and meaning of the within Deed and the Act of Assembly in such

          This Indenture made this Seventeenth Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand
       seven hundred and seventy one Between Charles Carroll Esquire of the City of Annapolis in the Province
       of Maryland Barrister of the one Part and William Buchanan of Baltimore and Province aforesaid
       Merch.t of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Charles Carrol for and in Consideration of the sum of
       Ninety two Pounds five shillings Current Money to him in hand paid by the said William Buchanan
       at or before the sealing and Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
       Hath granted Bargained & sold aliened Enfeoffed Released and Confirmed and by these Presents
       doth grant Bargain and Sell alien Enfeoff Release and Confirm unto the said William Buchanan
       his Heirs and Assigns a Certain piece or Parcel of Land being part of a Tract of Land called Mountain
       Stags Situate lying and being in Frederick County and Province of Maryland Containd within
       the following courses Beginning at the Beginning trees of the said Original Tract and runing thence
       North forty five Degrees, West one hundred and eighty Perches thence North forty five Degrees East
       one hundred and Sixty Perches thence North forty five Degrees ^West Seventy Perches thence south forty five Degrees West two hundred & thirty Perches thence south forty five Degrees^ East two hundred and fifty six Perches
       then by a streight line to the afs.d Place of beginning Containing and laid out for One hundred and seventy
       acres be the same more or less  Togeather with all Improvements Buildings Gardens Orchards Ways
       Waters Water Courses Commodities Previledges Emoluments Advantage and Appurtenances whatsoever
       to the said Tract or Parcel of Land belonging or in any ways Appertaining and the Reversion and
       Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents Issues and Profits thereof and every part and Parcel thereof
       and all the Estate Right Title Interest Use Trust Property Claim and Demand whatsoever of him
       the said Charles Carol of in or to the said Premises with the Appurtences and every part thereof To have
       and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land and all and singular the said Premises with the Appurtenances
       unto the said William Buchanan his Heirs and Assigns to the only proper use and Behoof of him the
       said William Buchanan his Heirs and Assigns forever and to or for no other Use Interest or Purpose
       whatsoever and the said Charles Carroll for himself and his heirs the said Land and Premises with the
       Appurtenances unto the said William Buchanan and his Heirs against him the said Charles Carroll and
       his Heirs and all and every other person or Persons whatsoever claiming or to Claim by from or under
