634 By Captain James Buchannan of Drumpellar Esq.r one of the Present Magistrates of the City of Glasgow and one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said City and Liberties thereof These do Certify that the within Designed M.r George Brown did this day appear before me & sign & Seale the Power of Attorney within written as his true and Genuine Act & Deed in Presence of the within Thomas Grahame writer and Public Notary in Glasgow and Archibald Grahame his Apprentice Witnesses Subscribing thereto and who also as such Signed the same in my Presence and who upon their great and Solemn Oath Administred by me did and do Depose that they truely saw and were Witnesses to the Signing and Sealeing of the said Power of Attorney by the said George Brown as Granter thereof In Witness whereof these Presents are Signed by the said Deponents & by me the said James Buchanan and the common Seale of the said City is by my order hereto Appended at & within the City of Glasgow aforesaid the Twentieth day of July Seventeen Hundred and sixty seven Years and of the reign of his Majesty George the Third by the Grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland the seventh Year Thomas Grahame James Buchanan L S Arch.d Grahame Recorded 5.th December 1769 X.d This Indenture made this fifth day of December in the Year One Thousand seven hundred and sixty nine Between George Brown of the City of Edinburgh in that part of Great Britain called Scotland Writer of the one part and Charles Woolford of Somerset County in the Province of Maryland of the other part Whereas the same George Brown is seised in Fee Simple of and in one undivided Moiety or half part of Three Tracts or Parcels of Land following to wit, one Tract of Land called Thornton Originally granted for six Hundred Acres of Land more or Less one other Tract of Land called Tishimon Originally granted to contain Fifty Acres of Land more or Less and one other Tract or Parcel of Land called Halhilah Originally granted to contain Three hundred Acres of Land more or Less which said Tracts or Parcels of Land ae Situate lying and being on the Northermost side of Monokin River in Somerset County aforesaid And Whereas the same George Brown by his certain Power of Attorney bearing Date at and within the City of Glasgow in that part of Great Britain called Scotland on or about the Twentieth day of July Seventeen hundred and Sixty seven properly and Legally Executed and enrolled on the day and Year first above written amongst the Records of the Provincial Court of the Province of Maryland did constitute and appoint a certain Thomas Lawson at Neabscoe Furnace Pottomack River Virginia his true and Lawfull Attorney and did vest him with Lawfull power & Commission among other things to sell and Dispose of the whole of the Lands and Plantations which should be found to partain and belong to the (said) |
