(538) On the 12.th Day of April 1769 Came John Baily Party to the within Indenture and Acknowledged the Same as his Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein Mentioned to be Right and Estate of Daniel Dulany also Party thereto his Heirs and Assigns and at the same time Came Hellen the Wife of the said John Baily and being Privatly Examined apart from and out of the Hearing of Her said Husband did declare and acknowledge the within Lands and Premisses to be the Right and Estate of the said Daniel Dulany his Heirs and Assigns free and Clear from any Dower Right or Title of Dower of her the said Hellen and did further freely declare that She did by this Acknowledgment release all her Right and Title of Dower to the within Premisses and that She made this Acknowledgment of her Own free Will and Consent without any Compulsion or threats from her said Husband or fear of his Displeasure taken before one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court Geo Steuart 12½ Recorded the 12.th day of April 1769 Ex.d This Indenture made this Sixth Day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine Between 9 sides Joseph Cowman of Ann Arundel County in the Province of Maryland of the one Part and Thomas Ringgold of Chester Town in Kent County in Maryland Merchant of the Other Part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Cowman for and in Consideration of the Sum of fourteen hundred Pounds Current Money of Maryland to him the said Joseph Cowman by the said Thomas Ringgold in hand paid the Receit whereof the said Joseph Cowman doth hereby Acknowledge hath bargained Sold and Conveyed Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth bargain Sell & Convey Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Thomas Ringgold and to his Heirs and Assigns forever all that Tract of Land called Denton Holme lying & being lately in Talbot County but now in Dorchester County in the Province af.d on the North Side of the Main Stream of the North East Branch of great Choptank River next above the Land of Col.o Vincent Low called Touton Field Containing according to Patent and laid out by the Lines and Boundaries Mentioned and Expressed therein Six hundred Acres be the same more or less together with all and Singular the Houses Edifices Buildings Gardens ways Waters Water Courses Timber, Trees fences Improvements priveledges and Advantages unto the said Tract of Land hereby bargained Sold & Conveyed belonging on the same being or thereunto in anywise appurtaining and the Reversion (&) |
